AmeriCare’s occupational therapists have a lot of helpful tricks in their bag. These specialized therapists develop and implement strategies that will make retirees and disabled individuals more safe and capable in their own homes and communities. When a physical challenge will be present long-term, we sometimes need to learn new ways to get our own tasks done. AmeriCare’s occupational therapists teach those new ways, and often invent new ways just for individual clients and their own unique challenges and goals. Occupational therapists can also prove particularly helpful in the rehabilitation of complex areas of the body or areas of the body that relate to fine motor skills.
Our certified speech and language pathologists (speech therapists for short) implement plans that can rehabilitate eating, comprehension, and speech. AmeriCare’s speech therapists work with the physical rehabilitation of muscle and joints involved in speaking, eating, and chewing. Moreover, they can actually rehabilitate the neurological processes of turning a thought into spoken word, comprehending spoken words, comprehending the written word, and other cognitive processes that can be damaged by injury or illness.
AmeriCare provides masters-level medical social work services to help ensure that all aspects of every patient’s health and well-being can be addressed in caring manner with professional expertise. Our medical social workers have training and experience in coordinating care over the whole of the healthcare and senior living spectrum and in helping clients overcome emotional, environmental, and economic factors affecting their healthcare.
At AmeriCare we want to do everything possible to allow our clients to focus their energy on rest and recovery without having to worry about many of the household activities that still need to get done. Activities of daily living can become difficult during recovery, and they can become a lot for family to keep up with, but AmeriCare is here to help.
As part of a home health episode that includes nursing or therapy services, AmeriCare may also send certified nurse assistants for intermittent help with health-related household and personal activities. This may include cleaning in patient areas, changing bed linens (especially if the patient is bed-bound), patient laundry, assistance bathing, etc.
